Southern Medical Association (SMA) established the Research & Education Endowment Fund as a permanent endowment in 1986.  The Fund supports two on-going financial aid programs initiated in the 1960s by SMA.  It provides financial assistance to medical students, residents and physicians in training through the Medical Student Scholarship Program and the Research Project Grant Program. 

Goals of the Research & Education Endowment Fund:

Fund Medical Student Scholarships for every school in SMA Territory
Provide Research grants for Physicians-in-training
