"A 28 year-old man is brought to the ER by his wife and family. A diagnosis of acute appendicitis is made and emergency surgery is recommended. The wife and family, however, insist that their minister first sees the patient. The minister is out of town and cannot be reached for at least 24 hours. The family objects to the hospital chaplain seeing the patient and requests that the physician and nurses join them in holding hands in a prayer circle for healing."
