The Scientific Exhibit is a forum for interactive scientific exchange on current information on Osteoporosis. While the exhibit is fun and interactive, it also contains high-level scientific information. The posters and information present are only from publications in peer reviewed journals or abstracts from national meetings. Each station is manned by a PhD, MD, or PharmD and is meant to be an interactive learning experience.
Topics Presented include:
- Hands-on Bone Strength – this include models of fragile bones to break/bend and rods to show different material strength properties. There are also models of struts to demonstrate strength and fragility.
- A 3-D theater to look at microarchitecture of bone and how molecules fit to make a cellular effect.
- Hands-on station on how fractures impact the quality of life of patients with osteoporosis.
- Personalized risk of fracture assessment (what will your risk be over the next 5 years).
- Up-to-date information regarding the need for education of patients and care-givers about calcium and vitamin D.
This fun, interactive session will provide you with the opportunity to discuss all aspects of the disease and its treatment as well as provide you with a variety of tools to help educate your patients on osteoporosis and fracture prevention.
