 Learning Gap 

With continuous development of new clinical evidence and revisions of existing guidelines, today’s physicians need guidance in order to critically evaluate and apply appropriate standards of care. This years Conference on Medical Dilemmas for Primary Care will focus on distinguishing and treating respiratory illnesses, common conflicting recommendations in women’s health, the most recent evidence in treating cardiovascular disease, and the latest developments in antibiotic use and resistance.

Target Audience 

This activity is designed for healthcare professionals including physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, specializing in Internal Medicine, Family or General Practice, Gynecology, Geriatric Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Preventive Medicine, as well as other specialists practicing in a primary care environment or needing additional information for primary treatment in a specialty environment.

Objectives 

At the completion of this activity, participants should be better prepared to:

  • Establish strategies for treating patients with pneumonia, dyspnea, chronic airways infections, asthma and COPD using published guidelines and case review
  • Recommend screening for HPV, cervical cancer, and osteoporosis and discuss new vaccines and HRT with your female patients;
  • Explain use/abuse of antibiotics and describe common fungal infections, MRSA, and endocarditis prophylaxis;
  • Examine evidence for hypertension treatment and heart failure and review goal setting for dyslipidemia patients.

Community of Interest 

This conference will have a community website for distribution of information, interaction between attendees and faculty, and continuous learning prior to and post-conference.  Access to the website is a registration benefit.  Instructions will be provided to registrants upon registration.
