This course provides an intensive examination of the Dutch approach to healthcare delivery, studies the medical education system, and evaluates nationalized and privatized healthcare delivery systems. At the end of this course, attendees will be better able to:
Compare and contrast strengths and weaknesses in the Dutch healthcare system and the US healthcare system.
Assess the healthcare strategies used in the Netherlands to better evaluate and recommend strategies for the US healthcare system.
Review the Dutch positions and practices regarding issues of preventative medicine, end of life care, and patient empowerment.
Interact with Dutch physicians to evaluate the interactions of the medical care system in the Netherlands including: pharmaceuticals, politics, institutions, and regulations.
