Instructions for submitting abstracts
- Abstracts must be received by June 7,2006.
- The presenting author will be notified of acceptance in June 2006 from SMA via email.
- The presenting author is required to provide a Disclosure Declaration
Form at time of submission.
- The preferred body of the abstract should be organized as follows: (a) Purpose
or Introduction, (b) Methods, (c) Results, (d) Conclusion.
- Non proprietary (generic) names of drugs or products are accepted
style.
- Poster exhibits are provided a freestanding 4’ x 8’
poster board. The number assigned to you upon acceptance will identify
each board.

Publication: Abstracts accepted will be published in the course syllabus.
Fees: Everyone attending the meeting must complete a registration form and pay the appropriate fees associated with attending the meeting.
Audio/Visual: the following equipment will be provided
LCD projector and appropraite size projection screen
Lighted lectern with microphone
Laser pointed
Audio-visual technician
Presenters must use PowerPoint for oral presentation. No 35 mm slides, please.
CME Credit: The Southern Medical Association is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
Application for nursing credit will be submitted upon receipt of the final program.
The American Academy of Physician Assistants accepts AMA Category 1 CME credit for the PRA from organizations accredited by ACCME.
Other Healthcare Professionals will receive a certificate of attendance.
Outstanding Abstract Competition
The Selection Committee will review all submissions for best paper and best poster awards. Awards for best posters will be announced on Saturday at the meeting, and awards for best papers will be announced after the meeting via letter.
Outstanding abstracts will be awarded as follows:
1st, 2nd and 3rd place for oral presentation by physician
1st, 2nd and 3rd place for oral presentation by non-physician
1st, 2nd and 3rd place for poster presentation
